North Yorkshire Women & Girls Cricket take the safeguarding and welfare of all our participants and volunteers seriously. We strictly adhere to the guidelines laid out by both the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Yorkshire Cricket Board (YCB). This means as a minimum, all our volunteers carry a valid ECB Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) check. Coaches and Managers also hold a valid First Aid and Safeguarding Qualification.
We are committed to ensuring all who take part in cricket organised by the development group have a safe, positive and fun experience, whatever their level. We believe everyone involved in delivering cricket to has a role to play in creating the best possible environment.
The ECB has developed guidelines that will ensure there are correct and comprehensive procedures in place for responding to, recording and reporting safeguarding concerns. All policies and procedures are contained in the ECB Safe Hands Policy. It is not the responsibility of any individual to determine if abuse has taken place, but it is their responsibility to act upon and report any concerns.
What to do if you have any concerns:
RESPOND to disclosure, suspicion and or allegation
RECORD the incident
REPORT the incident
After responding to an incident or suspicion, you should record what has been said and what happened.
If you have any concerns, your first point of contact for the development group should be our appointed Welfare Officer(s).
