A fantastic all round effort by North U15s to beat South by 9 wickets at the picturesque Bradfield Cricket Club. South 143-4 vs. North 144-1 off 21.3 overs.
Bar an odd fielding mistake or two (Libby talking and drinking!) this was almost a perfect game! Everybody bowled tight and well on a hot windy day, with shortish boundaries where mishits sometimes went for four. Some quick learning from Grace and Libby continually stemmed the flow of runs, keeping the better batters off strike…well done!! Libby gained redemption with a great catch to remove the dangerous Sophie Diggles. I have seen many easier catches dropped on a Saturday, what they call a game changer! All the team’s efforts helped us restrict South to 143.
What followed was a masterclass in batting by Ophelia, Lilly (carrying her bat for 55 not out and laying a great foundation with no risks and great shot selection), followed by some good old fashioned hitting from Phoebe. Seeing North home in 21.3 overs for the loss of 1 wicket….with so much batting potential in the tent!
A special thanks to our U13s Jess & Niamh….well bowled! Also great work from Grace and Libby, who captained like old hands, giving everybody a chance before themselves whilst winning the game in such style.
Finally a big thanks to all the mums, dads and grandparents who gave up their time to bring the girls. We can’t do it without you! Hope you enjoyed the day, not a bad place to spend your Sunday afternoon.
Well done one and all! Was worth the 12 ice creams!
